Old Farm School

This post & beam construction building will house the Wintonbury Historical Society Office and Education Center. The Education Center will make available the Society’s collection of historical books, photographs, documents and artifacts.

Old Farm School

This two-story brick schoolhouse is the town’s oldest public building. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The school is open on Sundays from May 15 through October 15 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Southwest District School

Simsbury Road, Bloomfield, CT 06002

Southwest District School

The Southwest District School was built of local traprock in 1858.  The one-room building served as a school until 1923 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Captain Oliver Filley House

130 Mountain Avenue, Bloomfield, CT 06002

Captain Oliver Filley House

Built by Captain Oliver Filley in 1834, this dramatic traprock stone farm house on 145 acres has been farmed for more than 200 years.  It is being restored through a partnership between the Wintonbury Historical Society and the Town of Bloomfield, and will be a museum, cultural center, research library, and office for the Society.
